Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022 forced 18 million people - nearly half of population of Ukraine – to leave their homes. Mothers took kids to safety, fathers went to defend the country, while many elderly choose dangers of staying home alone over uncertainty and anguish of evacuation.
It is hard to imagine amount of grief and suffering this on-going war brought to the Ukrainian people. Burnt homes, destroyed roads and bridges; no electricity and water; daily shelling; absence of medical facilities or even functioning stores – this is today’s reality of people in Eastern and Southern regions of Ukraine. Other parts of Ukraine are overcrowded with millions of internally displaced people who often do not have jobs and live in deprived conditions.
This is why AVP e.v. and United Help Ukraine decided to join forces to amplify volume of humanitarian aid each of the organizations have been delivering to Ukraine. We combined AVP e.v. infrastructure and experience in Germany, passion and dedication of Dusseldorf volunteers, UHU’s resources in the USA and infrastructure in Ukraine, and established „UkraineHilfe“.
UkraineHilfe is our joint venture which has a hub in Germany, the In-Kind Donation and Raising Awareness Center in Dusseldorf with the 1,000^2m warehouse; a hub in Ukraine with the 900^m warehouse in Kyiv; over 35 emploees and volunteers in Germany, the U.S.A. and Ukraine who work tiredlessly to accomplish our common goal – to ease hardships and bring hope and love to the most vulnerable people in Ukraine.
